Brightwood Library Book Club, was founded in 1996,
by Ruby Anderson. The club, which meets every 1st.
Tuesday, at 6pm., has 15 members.
Some interesting books discussed have been:
"Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora
Neale Hurston; "Sugar" by Bernice
McFadden; "Standing At The Scratch Line"
by Guy Johnson; and "I Wish I had A Red
Dress" and "What Looks Like Crazy On An
Ordinary Day" by Pearl Cleage.
The book club co-sponsored (with X-Pression
Bookstore) an author signing for Benilde Little (The
Itch); and were sponsors of the 1st Annual A Round 2
It Essay Contest, in 2002. Members also support
other library programs and events.
Membership is open and men and women are invited to
