HOW TO SELF-PUBLISH THAT GREAT NOVEL WITHOUT GOING NUTS!!
Divine Appointment: A Caregiver's Guide Release date August 2004.

Divine Appointment: A Caregiver’s Guide,
is my personal story. It contains short-short stories and anecdotes, as well as legal, medical, and psychological information. I spent countless hours interviewing caregivers and although I don’t know all that there is to know about this subject, what I do know I freely share. I was thrust into a caregiver’s world in which I knew nothing and I had to learn quickly. I prayed to God for answers, and his replies are contained in this guide.
Foreword by Andrea Blackstone, author of Schemin': Confessions of a Gold Digger.

'Anybody Seen Junebug?'
Chapter 1
John bolted from the top bunk, hitting the floor head first! Junebug was sitting straight up in
the bottom bed laughing as loud as he could. Since the lights were out all that John could see
in the dank cell was the flash of Junebug's gold teeth, reflecting off of the bars.
"Junebug, be quiet before they come and haul your butt outta
here."
"Let 'em by God! Hey John, did I ever tell you about my first
job?"
"Man, it's the new millennium. Do I have to listen to that crap
from 1960? You ain't never even told me why you're in here. And why'd I see some red nail polish
under your pillow this afternoon? If you're a damned fag I'll kill you!"
"Well, I get to live, cause I sure as hell ain't no fag,"
Junebug replied, as he stretched out on the bunk and wrapped the tattered blanket around his
body.
"Your're just gonna go back to sleep and not even tell me what
was so funny?" John asked, by now really agitated. He thought he'd gotten used to Junebug's
crazy outbursts but they were becoming more and more frequent. Sometimes he'd have a stupid ass
look, like they used to call out to lunch. Other times John would call him and he'd just stare
like Junebug wasn't even his name. He was a good cellmate as cellmates go, but he was weird!
"I was just thinking about my first job. Yeah, my very first
job! I delivered eggs, delivered 'em door to door."
"And that made you laugh like a crazy man, delivering some damn
eggs?"

Reviews:
"Delores Thornton, the award-winning author of Ida Mae has done it again! Thornton's
second novel, Babe, will be a definite must-read. Continuing her 'delicious' ability to create
refreshing characters, in Babe, Thornton keeps her dialogue lively and the action
intriguing. There's something in this book to impress nearly every reader."
~ Gloria Taylor Edwards, Author and Radio Talk Show Host WCLM 1450 AM Richmond, VA

Ida Mae, winner of the UBUS Black Book of the Year 2000 Award. A story about rape,
racism, courage, and trans-racial adoption. This tale of Historical Fiction spans seventy-one
years from 1948 - 2019.
Welcome to the story of Ida Mae!
Ida Mae stumbled into the kitchen, careful not to wake Papa or Milan as she climbed the
back stairs. If I'm lucky, I can pour a bath and bandage my wounds and be in bed before eleven,
she thought. In the oval mirror above the washstand she surveyed the damage. The pain she felt
sent her reeling. Down, down she fell into a sea of darkness.
Reviews:
"Filled with brilliant and descriptive prose, and showing the artistic depth and vision of a
first-rate writer, Thornton's Ida Mae story is gripping."
~Betty Davis, The Black Book Network
Poignant and touching to the end
"Ida Mae began life roughly. Her father is murdered, her mother dies and her adoptive parent die by the time she is 17. But Ida Mae had what a lot of folks don't have nowadays---survival skills. She took what life metted out and turned it into something good. But the saddest part to me is, she loved so freely yet died alone... Ida Mae is worth every penny I spent for it. I loved it!" ~Sydney Molare - sydneymolare.com
"Expertly written... A dynamic and truly memorable character. Superb reading."
~ James A Cox, The Midwest Book Review
"Thornton gives us an endearing character whose personal sense of self is a model of
inspiration."
~ Black Caucus of The American Library Association
