ENTRANTS FOR BEST PROMOTER 2004 Andrea Blackstone After years of receiving countless rejection letters from employers who reminded Andrea that she had no experience in her field, Andrea decided to self-publish her first novel. With no knowledge of the publishing industry and little resource, she researched the business as much as she could and was determined to take the journey. As time passed, Andrea began to realize that she was sharing information or assisting others who were in need of information, hands-on support, and low budget or free promotion. Thus, the yahoo group, authors helping authors, was born as a formal means to promote unity and educate writers of all genres and experience levels. Group activities have expanded beyond the internet, and many projects are pending in various states. Andrea feels that information should be shared, not harbored, and hopes the group will flourish, as a result of teamwork and dedication. Afrika Midnight Asha Abney Afrika Midnight Asha Abney is a Native Washingtonian. She is a visual artist, writer, and Traditional West Afrikan Dancer. Nubian Sistas Book Club The Nubian Sistas Book Club was founded in August 2003 by Joy Farrington. Our goal is to read a variety of genres written by or about African-Americans.
